  1. Hi Riley,

It was amazing to see the wide scope of different projects you learned about. I also grew up in Pittsburgh and went to Peabody High School. I remember as a kid being fascinated by the Allegheny Courthouse. Best wishes to you in your exploration of a law career!

    1. Hello!

I was super excited by the diverse range of things I got to work on this summer! I was afraid that, with the online format, I’d be more limited in the things that I could do, but that clearly wasn’t the case!

      Isn’t that building beautiful?

  2. Riley: Congratulations on a fantastic APEX Fellowship! It sounds like the perfect opportunity to explore a field you might be interested in, while simultaneously sharpening some research and outreach skills. I’m also glad you got the chance to network, and to meet people who you can now use as resources later in your career!

    1. Hi!

I definitely learned a lot about how organizations like this one operate! I got to sit on on a few board meetings to see how their decision-making process works, which was really neat.

  3. Riley, congratulations on a success summer experience with the Women’s Law Project. I am delighted that it turned out so well for them and the important work they do and for you as you prepare for your future. Much success with your studies, with Moot Court and the LSATs, and with all that lies ahead!

    1. Hello!

Thank you so much! Fingers crossed for this season and for the LSATs! Maybe I’ll actually start properly studying soon…

  4. Riley – Congratulations on another successful summer. You certainly made good use of the opportunity to develop relationships, dive deeper in to fields that interest you , and sharper your focus with the law. Keep us informed about your next steps and what this summer holds for you!

    1. Hi!

Thank you! These fellowships have been so helpful in allowing me to explore opportunities that I never would have had otherwise. I’m looking forward to figuring out what I’ll be doing this upcoming summer!

    1. Hi!

Some truly great things were accomplished out of a room designed by an eight year old 😀

  5. Congrats, Riley! What a wonderful opportunity for you and what terrific work you were doing in the process. Given that storytelling is a part of everyone’s work, I’m curious to know whether you’ve considered the work you’re doing in playwriting as something useful in your career trajectory?

    1. Hello!

Thank you! It really was a great opportunity to preview work that I can see myself doing in a few years. I definitely see an opportunity for storytelling in this line of work. On the litigation side of things, lawyers have to create convincing narratives, and on the advocacy side, telling stories is how you gain allies!

I don’t think I’m done telling stories any time soon 😀

  6. Riley–Congratulations again on a very successful APEX fellowship! This was an extremely professional and informative presentation, which brought back lots of nice memories of our correspondence this summer. It was great to see some pics of your co-workers, too, and I especially liked your reflection on the ways that you were able to network effectively while doing a virtual internship. Best of luck with the LSATs and with other next steps!

    1. Hi!

Thank you! Like we discussed this summer, I found it easier to seek out opportunities to connect with my coworkers this summer (virtually!) than I have in the past. I think this experience will make me more likely to do so again next time!

I can’t wait to see where this next year takes me 😀

  7. Riley, Thank you for this presentation. You’re a good storyteller, and I got a great image of the experience you had. How interesting that you were able to translate your fellowship last summer into this year’s work. It’s also fantastic that you were able to network as you did.
